Assess Your Intentions

Are your intentions pure and noble for the benefit of the many or for yourself only?

An event last April 10, 2023 allowed me to become more thoughtful, more mature, and more understanding. And, through this unexpected turn of events, I had a fresh perspective of things. Almost two months have passed, here I am still pondering on things – looking at them using an upgraded lens of both the mind and the heart.

Today, I had a lengthy conversation with my colleague about a lot of things – which definitely centered on intentions. What’s the reason we are making such decisions in life? What’s the rationale behind what we do? Why do we do what we do?

Whether our intentions are good or not, in time, we’ll reap results of the same kind.

If our intentions of doing such thing is to bless or to serve, in due time, we’ll reap appreciation and recognition. Continue doing good things, even if it seems nothing is working. Our Father in Heaven definitely sees the purest intentions of our hearts and will show us His favor.

On the contrary, if our intentions aren’t pure, surely, we’ll encounter chaos and disorder. Stop doing selfish things, especially if it hurts or affects somebody. Life has mysterious ways of blowing up our covers. And, if we are really just putting masks on, our true colors will be revealed in due season we least expect.

In the Bible, Philippians 4:8, we are reminded:

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

Therefore, in everything that we do and in every word that we are say, we should have the purest of our intentions – we should be selfless. In this way, we will only bless others and not hurt them. This in turn will allow us to receive more blessings, rather than disappointments and troubles.
