I am one of those who have a lot of plans on mind. I have this website where I see myself posting articles of nearly everything under the sun. However, due to lack of determination and, perhaps, discipline with time management, I failed to update this website on a daily basis. I imagined this website to showcase my reflection, striking Sunday homilies, and other source of inspiration. Above all, I also want this website to showcase all the photos I took from vacations, getaways and adventures with Mother nature.
The Challenge
The original goal of having this website is to show the goodness and kindness that I’ve received from others, hoping that these experiences will inspire others to do the same. I still have that goal in mind, though. However, since I juggle from work, personal life, my love of music, my direst desire to travel, among others, I pushed blogging and writing to the lowest priority, which should NOT be the case.
I’ve been struggling to write articles on a daily basis. I even started the 100-day challenge to push myself. However, the challenge ended even before writing daily became my habit.
The Inspiration
Fortunately, in an unexpected situation, I found something/someone that could change my habits forever. I was looking for the best place to go this weekend’s family bonding. I searched for possible getaway destinations near Simala, Sibonga, Cebu. As I was browsing the net, I visited the website of my brother’s friend – the Island Trek Tours.
I tried to navigate the website and found Tumalog Falls. The falls is interesting so I tried to look for other sources. I came across two wonderful travel sites – Adrenaline Romance and Backpacking with a Book. I even sent a short message to Jona of Backpacking with a Book for some tips to get started on blogging. Lastly, I came across an article in Cosmopolitan featuring four Filipino who are determined to travel around the world, and they are now in different parts of the world. Since then, I am more determined to develop the habit of blogging and writing in order to fulfill my desire to travel around the world.
Conclusion
I know that there are still so many things that I need to do and learn before I can build my career in writing. But, with practice and continued learning, I know I can, in the soonest possible time. It maybe hard at first, but if I don’t do it, would it just be okay with me to just watch other people succeed while I haven’t even done with step one? OF COURSE, NOT!
So, you too, if you want to do something today, be it your hobby, something you do over the weekend or building a career, always remember the first step to success – TO GET STARTED!
